Coffee Day 2015

September 29 is International Coffee Day—that one day of the year when coffee-loving Canadians shouldn’t feel guilty about ordering their extra large, extra bold jolt of java. Of course, not all Canadians take their coffee the same way, as noted in this research from Environics Analytics and PMB. Of the 66 percent of Canadians who drink coffee at least once a week, an overwhelming 90 percent go for the caffeine; only 13 percent drink decaf (some drink both). And while 79 percent like brewed, 23 percent choose instant. Beyond those distinctions, Canadians gulp down a variety of brews, including flavoured and gourmet coffees, cappuccinos, lattes and even hot chocolate. As for the biggest fans of coffee, research shows that they’re a mix of young and old working-class city dwellers who grab a cup of Joe before facing a busy day. –Jemicah Marasigan
